What is the 2010 Kootenay Skateboard Series?
A unified calendar of Kootenay skateboard events.
What is the purpose of the series?
To showcase Kootenay skateboarders talents to Kootenay Communities.
Create and consolidate friendships amongst skateboarders in the Kootenay’s.
To support those communities who are trying to build a Skatepark.
What are the benefits for me?
Meet skateboarders from across the Kootenay area.
Skateboard at different skateparks.
Show off your skills and perhaps learn some new tricks.
Be part of a ground breaking event.
What communities are involved?
Invermere, Castlegar, Slocan City, Salmo, Kaslo, Nelson and Rossland.
Who are the organizers?
Founders of bcskateboarding.org, Ty Smith (Castlegar) and Shuggy Milligan (Winlaw) are the main organizers. Additional support is coming from each of the communities Youth centers, skateboard groups and enthusiasts..
Who are the series sponsors?
Mountain Fm, Spectrum Skatepark Creations, S-One Helmets, Concrete Skateboarding, Mountain Transport Institute, Crazy Skateboarding, Skull Skates and Ultimate distribution.

Decide on your category> Under 14 years old, 15 + yrs old (Open), Old School Rulers and women’s or supporter.

How do I use the card when I get it?
Bring your card to each of the events. When you arrive you will sign in with the event organizers. By participating you will be credited with 50 pts for the event. If you do well in the competition you will attain more points. 1st=10pts, 2nd=9pts, 3rd=8pts, 4th=7pts, 5th=6pts.

How are the events judged?
The judging process may vary between events but generally in a “Jam” format the judges are looking for speed, style and tricks. Go out and do your best and it will be all good.
Are there prizes?
Yes. Each event has prizes. There are also prizes on the presentation night in October for all members of the series.
If I don’t have any transport how can bcskateboarding.org help me?
Mountain Transport Institute is working with 2010 KSS to provide a shuttle service to the events. Talk to your friends, family and supporters about using the bus. Give your local youth centre, bcskateboarding.org or Mountain Transport Institute, a call and we will work to help.
