BREAKING NEWS: A motion has been passed to give
the skateboarders land for their skatepark in Nelson,
BC.
Skaters rejoice! After ten years of meetings, presentations and skateboard demos Nelson’s Outdoor Skatepark finally has a home.
As of Thursday March 10th 2011 a motion has been passed allocating land for Nelson’s Outdoor Skatepark. The skatepark will be located in the North West corner of the NDCC parking lot. The site will host an eleven thousand square foot park, about the same size as Castlegar.
The Kootenay Lake Outdoor Skatepark Society, or KLOSPS, is currently working with New Line Skatepark with the goal of building a world class skate plaza. The cost of the Skatepark is estimated at roughly four hundred thousand dollars. KLOSPS, with the help of the community, must fundraise the full amount. However it is expected that in-kind donations of labour and materials will cover a large portion of the cost. Smith grinds here we come
