There are usually two sides to any story. It's unfortunate that this news writer elected to elaborate on past challenges (27-April Trail Daily Times article) instead of recent successes with the Columbia Basin Trust Community Initiatives Program grants: $10,000 from Trail and $250 from Trail. Other jurisdictions have yet to communicate their CBT distributions: Genelle (Area B), Beaver Valley & Warfield. A team of five community-minded individuals worked to get this successful CBT grant application submitted and attended all of the five municipal meetings to publically explain the benefits of the skate park project. This keen team of skate park enthusiasts remain unwavering in their support for the project inspite of the City of Trail's recent lack of success with their application for a BC Community Recreation Program Grant.

The news writer missed an opportunity to support this project's momentum by drawing attention to these successes and the Trail SkatePark's new website: www.skatetrail.com.

This dedicated team is now working on a media and promotional strategy to bring this project closer to the day when the concrete will be poured, and trust me, it will!

I rode for years and I know a bit about the life style.Just after josh passed I sold my bike and I would never ride again...It is because of his accident that brought me to my decision. To have a memorial ride for someone that didnt have anything to do with the lifestyle is wrong.Josh is and always will be a skateboarder not a biker.Go for a skate and donate the money you save on gas to skate shoes for kids...Im possitive that he will look down from skater heaven with approvale joy and above all love, cause thats what shwaw was all about..

The Rotary Club of Trail is keen to see the first pour of concrete for this exciting project. The youth of Trail need this. The next half-dozen years or so will see hundreds of new families moving to Trail to offset the growing number of retirees in this community. These families will have children who will have realistic expectations of seeing a community skatepark here. Many other similar sized communities with smaller tax bases already have skateparks: Castlegar, Nakusp, Grand Forks and others.

Skate parks provide an opportunity for youth to develop fitness, relationships, leadership skills and confidence.
