What a special day Saturday March 2nd was for the skateboarding community in the Kootenay’s. Castlegar’s The Old Theatre hosted Hicks on Sticks documentary with two packed screenings.
Prior to the screening Kinnaird Youth Indoor Skatepark hosted the pre-screening skateboard session. It was awesome to seet both Soren and Michael skateboading with Eugene Voykin and friends.
I had actually been give the raw copy of this movie by Josh and was blown away by the effort PM Skateboards went through to bring skateboarding to the rural communities of BC. The movie was even more poignant with the life changes for the skaters and musicans since the filming in 1999.
Afterwards we all ventured over to the Lion Head Pub to hear local rocker, Sack Grabbath, rip out some classic tunes. So big thanks all around to those that continue the passion to express the unique flavor of the Kootenay scene.
This is a must see movie…if you cannot buy the movie……
