Street League Format Contest for Advanced/Pro:

The Street League format is broken down into three specific sections: Flow, Control, and Impact. Scores are cumulative, so every section counts. The 20 skaters will be divided into 2 “heats” of 10 and each skater will be judged on a scale of 1-10 in each section.

The Flow Section features the first group of 10 attempting two one-minute runs skating the entire course. The lowest score of the two are dropped for each contestant and the 5 skaters with the lowest overall scores are eliminated from each group. Total time: 30 mins.

The Control Section allows the remaining 5 skaters from each “heat” five attempts to score the highest trick possible. The skaters can utilize the entire course, with the exception of the Impact Section. The highest score each of the skater’s attempts is the only one from the section that gets used. The two skaters with the lowest overall scores are eliminated. Total time: 30 minutes

The Impact Section is the third and final section of the contest. The top 3      from each of the heats will be joined and the final six skaters have   six attempts each to put down the highest score possible utilizing    only the Impact Section obstacle.  The two lowest scores of each of    the skater’s attempts are dropped. The skater with the highest        overall cumulative score at the end of the section is the winner.       Total time: 1 hour.

Kinnaird Youth Indoor Skatepark

An update on the great response we have had for the Castlegar’s indoor skatepark for the second year.

With the support of Kinnaird Park Community Church and the City of Castlegar (CBT Community Initiatives Funding) the Kinnaird Youth Indoor Skatepark was visited hundreds of times by skaters over the 2012/13 winter.
Our regular schedule maintained by a dedicated group of volunteers provided opportunities on Monday, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturday mornings for our 160+ registered skateboarders, of all skill levels, to enjoy a safe warm indoor location.
Utilizing Facebook our group grew to around 216 members who were well informed on all the activities throughout the winter including 2013 Kootenay Skateboard Series - Winter and the Hicks on Sticks pre-screening skate session. We also collected and posted many photos and videos of the successes of young people.
As the weather clears skaters are excited to be out at the Castlegar Rotary Skatepark. For those wishing to learn the basics beginner clinics run at the skatepark from May 4th to 25th, 9 am to 10:30 am. Registration is through the Castlegar and District Recreation Complex.
++++Summer at the Skatepark is running Monday to Friday from June 25th through to Sept 6th > 9am to 3pm+++
