The Spot destroyed

I was just in Oakland a week ago on my way to SF for my wedding anniversary. We had travelled from the Kootenay’s down. It is ignorant that CALTRAN found as many “issues” as possible to shut down a place where skaters could find some peace from the ratrace. Next on their hit list Bordertown.

Rossland skaters SUPPORTED by the Mayor

“THE PROCESS TO ESTABLISH IF THE EMCON LOT IN ROSSLAND IS THE RIGHT PLACE FOR A SKATEPARK WILL CONTINUE DESPITE CONTINUED OPPOSITION FROM A GROUP OF CONCERNED RESIDENTS.

SO SAYS MAYOR GREG GRANSTROM.

HE SAYS THE EMCON SITE HAS NOT OFFICIALLY BEEN APPROVED FOR SUCH USE AND THE LOCAL SKATEPARK ASSOCIATION NEEDS TO DRIVE THE PROCESS TO FIND OUT IF THE COMMUNITY WANTS IT THERE.

GRANSTROM SAYS ONLY WHEN THE SKATEPARK SOCIETY HAS DONE ITS HOMEWORK WILL COUNCIL CONSIDER ANY PROPOSAL.

BUT SOME RESIDENTS SAYS IT WAS WRONG FOR ROSSLAND COUNCIL TO UNILATERALLY EARMARK THE SITE FOR A SKATEPARK WHEN THE WHOLE COMMUNITY SHOULD BE INVOLVED IN DECIDING WHAT IT’S BEST FUTURE USE SHOULD BE.” source mountainfm.net

Castlegar skatepark bashing

Wow – it seems like everyone has got something to say about the Castlegar Skatepark at the moment. I skate this park and 95% of the time I have been there I have not experienced any negativity.
Perhaps we need to allow skatepark users to have a voice and to this end I am proposing the formation of the Castlegar Skatepark Coalition.
Check out the Castlegar News plus the comment from dookie01! A FENCED IN AREA WITH A FEE TO SKATE!!!!
